Richard J J Bridle - the author

Richard J J Bridle grew up in the English West Country, the setting for Silbury 1966 and Silbury 1969, before moving to the northwest, the setting for Shechester 1974. These three books, along with the new biographical entries in Character Witnesses, encompass The World of Inspector Fatima Dieng, at least for the present.

He then went and lived and worked in various parts of Asia and Africa, as well as New York City, first as a volunteer and later as an employee of the United Nations. He drew on some of those experiences for United in Death and The Quest for Zeinab, both Brown Hat Investigations stories.

Along the way, he acquired a degree in history from the University of Manchester, partially supporting himself by working summers in a Bristol cold store. There’s a bit of that, along with some of the international stuff, in the series of tales of Propitious Peregrinations ®: Max Maartinesz, Lillian & Gillian, and Max and Lillian.

These days he lives in Canada, the setting (mostly) for his new narrative: The House of Comens.

And, yes, he wears a brown hat.
